Our trip to the base high school in Bitburg

I was with Keshia, Sarah and Niklas in a group. First I was really nervous but once I sat in class, it was so cool. Two boys said hello to me. They are nice. Then two girls talked to me in German. But I thought we drove to a high school to speak English, not to speak German. At lunchtime we sat down with all the students in the big lunch room. After lunch we had a break and then a really nice lesson, a computer lesson. We talked to a boy about hobbies. Now I know that American people like to play American football. In the last lesson we had history. The boy said that it would be easy. It was very difficult for me because they read an English book. At last we drove back to our school in Wittlich.

Our Visit of Bitburg Middle High School

On 19th November 2015 we went to the Middle High School in the former American housing complex in Bitburg. It was a rainy and windy day.
First we were welcomed by Nathaniel Goolsby, a former soldier. He took us to the leadership room. “Leadership” is a special subject, only taught at American schools. There students learn to be confident.
Then we had the chance to try out a flight simulator. After that we were divided into smaller groups. Each group was looked after by a so-called “team leader” of the High School. We attended lessons together with the American students. It was very interesting.
Lunch break in the canteen was from 11.15 to 11.50. It was very cool and different from ours. Afterwards we attended their German lesson, which was also very interesting. The American students have been learning the language for four years. They speak German very well – with an American accent, of course.
All in all, we had an amazing day in Bitburg.
